offramp started as a playground of sorts for friends. it later became an underground network in a residence hall at purdue university in 1995. the network grew to more than a dozen computers spread over three floors. today, offramp.org is a few computers at a hosting facility. it is the virtual home for dozens of user accounts, and even more websites. it is a free service for friends and friends-of-friends, not a public or commercial endeavor.
